Try using the Malco reversible hex driver to quickly remove the air conditioner panels. They are available in four different lengths using part numbers MSHC, MCHLC, MSHMLC, and MSHXLC.
While you have the panels to the air condioner removed, consider one of the many NuCalgon products that ABR Stocks. We offer Nu-Brite condenser coil cleaner (4291-08) available in 1-Gallon containers.
We also offer eco-friendly condenser coil cleaner call Cal-Green (4190-08). Cal-Green is made with all natural ingredients derived from vegetable esters that are biodegradable and will not harm plants, animals, and aquatic life.
Nu-Calgon makes a product that you connect to your standard garden hose. This is their triclean coil cleaner (4372-24)
If you come across a dirty evaporator coil, Nu-Calgon offers a no-rinse evaporator coil cleaner (4168-08). This cleaner is also biodegradeable and is USDA authorized.
If you come across a unit that is low on refrigerant there are a few options available. You can perform a complete leak check on the system, add the appropriate amount of refrigerant, and use Easy Seal Direct Injection Sealant to fix any small leaks in residential systems ranging in size from 1.5 to 5 tons.
