The extreme winter cold and the scortching summer, are the two worse times for a HVAC sytems to malfunction.  Contractors are at peak operating capacity during these times.  What if you could get leads, for new or existing customers, from a smart thermostat?   Google Nest will begin testing a new feature that can help you keep track of your customers heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.

"Based on information like your thermostat's historical data and current weather, Nest will learn to detect some unusual HVAC patterns that might indicate something is wrong.  If it's taking longer than normal to heat your home, for example, there might be a problem with your heating system - even if you haven't noticed anything."

If the thermostat detects a potential issue, it will send you an alert via email.

If you have opted into the Nest Home Report, a monthly email report that will summarize energy savings, energy consumption, and many more home events, you will automatically begin receiving these alerts immediately.  Google is partnering with Handy, a platform that connects qualified professinals with customers.  Booking through Handy will only be available in approximately 20 metro areas including, Atlanta, Boston, Denver, Las Vegas, and San Diego to name a few.  They hope to expand the service throughout the testing period.
